Hi! My name is Madison Chan, and I am a sophomore at the University of Georgia, where I study advertising and business. Advertising is such a captivating industry to me because of how much influence an advertiser/graphic designer can have on people's behaviors and attitudes, ultimately affecting their decisions, and those decisions are crucial to the success of a business. In high school, I had the experience of creating a promotional campaign with a group of peers for a restaurant called Village Burger. We designed social media posts and flyers, organized an in-person special event, and created a loyalty program to help the restaurant increase its sales and community outreach. I also created an advertising agency with one of my peers for our high school called The Skyline. We built this agency from scratch by designing promotional content like a logo, e-blasts, Instagram posts, and magazine ads to promote our agency to the student body. Outside of school, I had the pleasure of being an advertising intern for a local online boutique called Carbon and Love where I built and managed the boutique’s email campaigns, came up with selling strategies to promote inventory turnover, and designed social media content for their Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Because of these experiences, I have been able to work with various software to create content, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Canva.
